This sad news was not presented at the meeting. However, I wanted to let our group know that Vicky, who spoke at our meeting on April 3, 2007 was killed on August 22, 2009 at the World Aerobatic Championships in England. She was performing her qualifying aerobatic performance to qualify her for the World Aerobatic Championships. Her aircraft failed to pull out of a dive and crashed.
Guest Program Speaker: Vicky Cruise: Vicky is a competition aerobatic pilot as well as a Reno Air Race pilot. She is the president of the International Aerobatic Club. For aerobatic competition, she flies a single-place Edge, a popular, competition aerobatic plane, with a 330 hp engine, of carbon fiber construction. The plane has a roll rate of 420 degrees/second. The plane is so strong that it is impossible to disassemble it through flight maneuvers, pretty neat! Vicky gave an outstanding power-point presentation regarding all aspects of aerobatic-competition flying. She will be providing the same presentation at Sun and Fun in Florida in the near future.
