Here are a couple of pictures of my T28 "work in progress".
I had a major engine failure last year in June and made it back to the
field OK. God was my copilot.
I pulled the engine myself and spent a few months looking for a
replacement. I found a low time engine that the CDF was auctioning off and
shipped both engines to my engine shop in So. CA. My old engine will
be used for credit on what parts are still good (not many) and the new
engine is being gone through. The new engine looks real good and I
should have it back the end of March 08.
In the meantime I have been doing a major annual / overhaul on the
airframe. I have replaced every hose, about 70 of them, including the
instrument panels. I found a few hoses that date back to the Navy
overhaul in 1974. I have re-sealed the brake calipers. Replaced a
leaky main fuel shut off valve. I have pulled one fuel cell bladder and
I am starting to pull another one. They were seeping. It appears that
the seepage may be from some of the fittings on the fuel cell. I still
have the engine hoses to do but I have to wait until; I install the
engine to be sure I have the proper length.
