Nevada County Airport Sign of the Times

A beautiful new airport sign donated and erected by EAA 1175
for the Nevada County Airport on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter 1175 and the GEFA (Golden Empire Flying Association) formulated the new sign idea. After discussion from the EAA group, EAA member, Jim Braddock stepped forward and volunteered his talent and resources to make this a reality. Karyl Marlow created the sign design by fashioning the airport information as if viewing the instrument panel through the cockpit of an airplane.

This sign is built from mahogany donated by, and with assistance by Jada and Aaron Beyer, Jim Braddock’s employer at Sierra Woods in Nevada City, California, a high-end window and door manufacturer.  Sierra Woods CNC machine accurately constructed the differing heights of engraving. Lauren Chamberlin graciously volunteered her artful ability to select the colors and paint the sign.

EAA President, Dave Bernasconi and members, Bruce Tracey and Bruce Marlow were on hand to assist Jim with the installation of the new airport sign.

This is just one more way that EAA members give back to the airport and help promote aviation.
